Changes

The 2018 Grammy Awards underwent some significant changes. First off, the voting process is different from previous years. Votes are now cast online instead of a paper ballot. This was done in an attempt to avoid fraudulent votes.

This also gives touring artists more flexibility. In an effort to show more appreciation for the men and women behind the scenes, all music creators credited with at least 33 percent playing time on an award-winning album will be eligible to receive a Grammy for Album of the Year. The Nominations Review Committees have now been implemented in three genres.

Those genres are rap, contemporary instrumental, and new age fields. Definition of an album has also been expanded in three genres. Those are classical, dance, and jazz fields. If an album has 15 minutes of total play time, it must have five distinct tracks to be eligible.
